What are the uranium mines?
Uranium is extracted from three main sites in Australia – Olympic Dam, Honeymoon and Beverly-Four Mile. Of these, only Olympic Dam and Four Mile are currently operational. The rest are either closed or in maintenance mode. In 2022, Australia produced 4,553 tonnes of uranium, which is 8% of the total uranium production worldwide. It is the fourth largest producer in the world.
