In this entire matter, Joint Commissioner of Police of Crime Branch Raghavendra Vats said, “We were searching for the accused based on the details given by the girl. During this, we also examined more than 200 CCTV footage. Finally, we arrested the accused within a few hours. The most important thing is that when the accused was arrested, he was not ready to admit that he had committed this act. However, during further interrogation, he finally admitted that he had committed the rape of the girl. The accused is also seen in the CCTV footage. Initially, he was not cooperating, but during interrogation, he confessed to everything.
A six-year-old girl was sleeping with her parents and siblings near the e-charging station of the Municipal Corporation. The accused reached there and kidnapped the girl. He picked up the child in his lap and gave him chocolate and took him to the Municipal Corporation Sports Complex, which is 50 meters away. The accused raped the girl just 15 feet away from the gate of the complex.
The accused left the child where her parents were sleeping and fled. The child reached her mother in unbearable pain and fell asleep nearby due to the pain. When the mother woke up on the morning of March 15, she was shocked to see her child covered in blood. However, the family immediately shifted the child to the hospital for treatment. Upon learning about this at 8:00 am on March 15, the Katargam police immediately reached the hospital. Considering the seriousness of the matter, an investigation was conducted by Katargam police along with Singanpur, Mahidharpura, Chowk Bazaar police and Crime Branch. The police questioned the girl and her parents. During this, a team of police and Crime Branch investigated the place where the girl had given information. More than 150 police personnel in a team of 18 officers investigated the matter.
The police conducted an investigation in the e-charging station and the surrounding area. Based on the details given by the girl to the police, a search was started for the accused in the CCTV footage. After human intelligence, technical surveillance and more than 200 CCTV footage and details given by the girl, the Crime Branch finally got success and arrested the accused Ajay Verma within a few hours.
